In California the law states that the arrested person must be able to see a judge within 24 to 48 hours depending on the crime.

When setting a bail amount there are different things that are taken into consideration. For instance, the danger and severity of the crime. The more danger the crime caused the public the higher the bail amount will be. For instance if the crime is a robbery but there was brute force used against a person or someone was hurt then the bail amount may be higher. Than if it was just a common robbery.

In California 10% is what is charged for a bail bond. If the bail amount is 50,000 then 10% of that would be 5,000. Bail Bond companies are not allowed to charge any less or any more for bail bonds. This is regulated by the state of CA.

Qualifying for a bail bond is almost like qualifying for a bank loan. A few factors that are highly important are the ability to pay, the stability and the willingness of the indemnitor to pay off the bail bond. But also the ability to make sure that the defendant appears at all court appointments. Does the indemnitor have assets that can be liquified if need be? Are they a United States Citizen? Does the person have good Credit? How long have they lived at present address.

 

Each case is different and understand that the criterias are based on the bail amount.
